Meet Lucy & Luna!

Lucy & Luna have been coming to Wagging Tails since 2011, when Lucy came into the family three years ago.

Elizabeth, their owner, says, “They are two very different dogs in personality and size, making them a very unlikely pair of sibling dogs — they are a quirky pair for sure!” Lucy is an Anatolian Shepherd Mix, and Luna is a Cockapoo.

Their favorite part about coming to Wagging Tails is that they both “love hanging out with all the other dogs and running around in a large open space all day long!! They also love that I send treats in their meals which doesn’t happen at home. More importantly, the staff at Wagging Tails are so wonderful, and they love hanging out with everyone there.”

“Luna was actually an unplanned adoption. We were tentatively thinking about getting another dog but weren’t sure about the timing. One night, I couldn’t sleep and got an alert for a cockapoo puppy in a local shelter, so I submitted an application late that night, thinking for sure that we wouldn’t get her, but to our surprise, we were the ones picked. Sometimes, you have to be willing to rethink timing when the right dog is up for adoption!”

We’re sure that Lucy and her human sisters Emma and Linnea are happy to have Luna join the family. The best part of having Lucy & Luna in our lives is “how much energy and excitement dogs bring to our lives. They are the first to greet you at the door after you are gone and can’t wait to snuggle with you at night.”

“Lucy will only go to bed if every person in the family is upstairs and in their room. Otherwise, she sits on the steps patiently waiting for the last person to head upstairs to bed at night. Luna is a feisty dog who is not afraid to play rough with Lucy even though there is an 80-pound difference in size between the two.”

Elizabeth says, “Lucy doesn’t love water, and how we figured this out was that she jumped off the side of the boat into the lake. In her attempt to get out of the water, she started swimming toward shore, which was hundreds of yards away from the boat in the opposite direction. We managed to finally get her attention and get all 90 pounds of her back into the boat. Since then, she has never tried to jump into water.”

Despite her size, Elizabeth says, “Lucy is generally scared of people, but once you get on her good side and she knows you she will remember you and will love you to pieces! And Luna is sometimes very silly; Elizabeth tells us, “If you blow air on Luna, she will try to eat it and lick the air.”

“They generally love all things dogs love – running around the dog park, walks around the neighborhood, and, of course, eating homemade dog treats.” Sounds like a perfect pair, congratulations to you both!
