The Easiest Dog Treat You’ll Ever Make

Sweet Potato “Cookies”

Think that treats from your kitchen have to cost a fortune or cause a lot of fuss? We’ve got good news for you – these “cookies” take one ingredient, and your dog is going to love them. In fact, we find many dogs prefer these treats to store-bought items, and they’re a fraction of the price!

Sweet potatoes are easy to find and make a nutritious snack for dogs. By drying them out in the oven, you can create a delectable chew that increases their pleasure and doesn’t require refrigeration. It only takes a sweet potato or a yam; both will work, so you don’t even have to figure out which is which!

Prepare the “Cookie”

Simply slice the raw sweet potato. You can cut them lengthwise or widthwise, just keep the slices 3/8 to 1/2 inch thick.

Arrange the slices on a baking sheet in one layer.

Bake the “Cookie”

Put your “cookie” slices in the oven at 250 degrees for one hour. Then, turn the slices and bake for another hour.

Continue this process until the slices are completely hard. If you have a food dehydrator, you can also finish the drying process in your machine at a low heat.

Enjoy!

Once your Sweet Potato “Cookies” are completely dry, share them with your dog! They don’t require refrigeration and should last up to three months.
